SOA is sometime shown as 4 layers with Presentation Layer (SOA 1) at the top of the stack. Service interfaces are described using WSDL. Web Services are the means to decouple functional layers, allowing business functionality to be swapped in and out without disturbing other layers.
The business idea is that patients are looked after in healthcare facilities. Applications need to allow selection of a facility and access to facility details. A database holds details of facilities which are a part of the enterprise. A Web service will be used to construct the web application that provides a user view into the facilities and facility details.
Earlier document discussed implementation of a web service which returns facility list and facility details. Here I walk through development of a Visual Web Application which uses the Web Service as a data provider. The Visual Web JSF-based Application uses components from Project Woodstock.
This document is not a tutorial on JSF or Web Application development.
